Every year in October, the Copperstate Overland brings together vintage 4×4 enthusiasts for a four-day rally through the beautiful landscapes of Arizona. This event, run by the same organizers of the famous Copperstate 1000, had its first run in 2015 and The FJ Company were proud to be inaugural sponsors.  

When it comes to off-road vehicle, Toyota Land Cruiser FJ is probably the next most iconic and much sought after ride after Land Rover Defender. FJ's popularity is one to be reckon with and so, it is not surprising that there are shops specializing in restoring this off-road modern classic into its former glory, or some instances, even better than its original form.  

The Copperstate Overland, a four day rally held annually by the Men's Art Council in Arizona, is a niche event that sees lucky participants exposed to some of the most beautiful scenery of Northern America from behind the wheel of their trusty vintage 4×4.

Based on an FJ43 that was used to transport personnel to remote locations within Colombia, this green beauty has had its original 2F engine rebuilt, as well as the power steering, and the front disk brakes.

This FJ started its life as a workhorse for a Columbian energy company hauling workers to remote locations and was in good shape with the original 2F engine and a mostly rust-free body, but the frame-off restoration completed by the FJ company has this rig looking better than when it left Japan.  

It's raw, bit of a blunt instrument, and not exactly cheap, but no more fun can be had than in a classic Toyota Land Cruiser.
